Read 362.) Revelation chapter 4 thru 8:6. “Everybody wants to go to Heaven, but nobody wants to die!” That’s an old line, but maybe it’s because we don’t much know what heaven is like! Chapter 4 is a scene in heaven, centered around the Almighty. We read of His throne and of His appearance, of some 24 elders, and the Spirit, and of the 4 living creatures. Read their sayings aloud, and especially the lines by the 24 elders. Excitement should well up within you. Say them loudly! From Hebrews 12:22+23, we learn that God is there, myriads of angels, the Church triumphant and the saints of the Old Testament. Isaiah saw the same in 6:1-4 of his book. Chapter 5 only heightens the entire scene and experience, and it is all about Jesus! As with those sayings in chapter 4, read the songs in chapter 5 very loudly. It is a blessing to do so! And, as the scene is in heaven, so Hebrews 12:24 tells us that Jesus is there. And that verse also tells us of His Blood, too! The primary element of the Gospel, concerning Christ’s death and resurrection, is the shedding of His Blood, and of its presentation before God on His throne, to satisfy His wrath against us (called propitiation), and to purchase we who believe, unto God. By His Blood, we have been saved! But, please, especially note, that worship is reserved unto God alone, just as Jesus, himself, said in Mt.4:10, from Dt.6:13, but is offered up unto both God, the Father, and unto the Lamb, the Lord Jesus Christ… Jesus truly is God!
With chapter 6, the apocryphal scene on earth begins with the opening of the 6 Seals. They are 1.) A conquering ruler, 2.) much warfare, 3.) price inflation, 4.) the death of 1/4 of earth’s population, 5.) martyrdom of Christ’s saints on earth, and 6.) a possible nuclear holocaust? On the flip side, chapter 7, describes God’s work going on behind the chapter 6 scenes on earth. It is worldwide evangelism by 144,000 Jewish Messianic believers, used of God to reap a great harvest of souls during the great tribulation of chapter 6. As with the scenes of chapters 4 and 5, read the worshipful lines of verses 10-12 out loud. Feel the excitement in them! Please know that the heart of God is for people of every nation, tribe, people group and language, as 4:9 and 7:9 tell us. This is our missionary mandate, to go to all the peoples of the world. Just as God’s heart longs for their salvation; we must bring to them His Gospel!!!
Chapter 8, verses 1 thru 6, then sets the scene for what would come next. It is the opening of the 7th Seal, which in itself contains the judgments of the 7 Trumpet blasts. When we learn of their content, we realize that we are reading of God’s ending of the world, as we have known it, and of the preparation for the Return of Jesus Christ to establish His Kingdom on earth. It’s what the Book is all about!
