Read 363.) Revelation 8:7 thru chapter 13. We have read of the first 6 seals of judgment, and how that the 7th contains the next 7 judgments upon the earth. It is the Apocalypse! In chapter 8, we have the first 4 Trumpet judgments. 1/3 of earth’s vegetation is burned, 1/3 of the seas destroyed, 1/3 of fresh water sources lost and 1/3 of light is dimmed, perhaps by ash and dust? Chapter 9 brings worse judgment with the 5th and 6th trumpets. A demonic horde is released to torment men for 5 months. then, 1/3 of earth’s population dies. With a previous 1/4 already dead, 1/2 of humanity has been slain; more than 3.6 billion people by this point! The very end is already near. And, no one else is willing to repent.
Chapter 10 is an encouraging interlude, before John must take up his pen again and write of the awful horrors still to be recorded. Then, with chapter 11, we learn of 2 witnesses, who stand in Jerusalem to testify of the Lord and against the Anti-Christ for the last 2 1/2 year period of time. By their miracles, the way they passed in the Old Testament, and how they appeared on the mount to Jesus in the Gospels; may these 2 be Moses and Elijah? Then the 7th trumpet is sounded. This contains the 7 last bowls of judgment, not seen ’til chapter 16! So, what is in between, in chapters 12, 13, 14 and 15? More revelation concerning the very last days of the end time.
Chapter 12 is of Israel, Satan and Christ, and of how that Israel must flee mid-Trib when Anti-Christ rises to rule the world. He will seek to enact The Final Solution to exterminate Israel. Then, chapter 13 goes all dark on us, as we get a glimpse as to who this man of evil, this Beast, the Anti-Christ is truly going to be like. He will be empowered of Satan, himself. He even fakes a resurrection? He will certainly rise to rule over all the world in his day; which will be the final 2 1/2 years. And, he will have a side-kick, a demonically empowered religious leader, right-hand-man. Between these 2, the Beast will rule and be revered as God. Anti does not only mean opposite of… it can also mean, “in the place of,” and so, this Beast and his high priest, make him out to be the Messiah who has come to save the world! This is not what the Book is all about, but that is coming again very quickly!
