The Real New Testament Message is understood and proclaimed by those who preach the Gospel, and insist on the necessity of the New Birth, as will be pointed out in time. It would seem that there are 10 Essential component parts of The Real New Testament Message, and each logically and Biblically is derived from the one that comes before it. The first is the requirement for absolute righteousness. The second is our failure to possess any, as our record is one of breaking God’s Law and of sin. The third is the inevitability of severe judgment in a literal hell for all sinners. The fourth goes to God’s heart and goodness, in that He sent a Savior. The fifth has to do with what the Savior did for condemned sinners, in that God’s Good News is that Christ died for our sins, and rose from the dead! That brings us to the 6th Essential Element. Beyond the death and resurrection of the Savior, Jesus Christ; God requires of all people everywhere, a two-fold response. This two-fold response can likened unto the two faces of one coin. They both go together. You really do not have one, without the other.
The first of the two human responses God requires of any person, for the efficacy of the work that Christ accomplished by means of His death and resurrection, is that each individual must repent. In the course of our study to follow, we will see the importance of repentance, and learn precisely what that is; as well as to prove that it is an absolutely essential component part of The Real New Testament Message.
We hear very little of repentance in these days. People do not want to be told that they are sinners. They want to hear that God loves them. Certainly, He does! But, before a person gets to be a real recipient, and to experience and realize the love of God for themselves… they are, absolutely, positively, first, going to have to repent! The Good News of God is not going to do anyone any good at all, until they first realize that they are a condemned sinner, abiding under the wrath of an angry God… an angry God who does love them, and wants to save them from their judgment and condemnation to hell for their sin, but first, they must respond to Him by way of Biblical repentance. No repentance, no salvation. It’s what the Book is all about!
