1.) God requires righteousness in order to accept a person. But we are not. Instead, 2.) We have sinned. There is 3.) A sure judgment to follow, but, 4.) God sent a Savior. 5.) The Savior died for our sins and rose from the dead. It is now 6.) Incumbent upon all people everywhere to repent. We have introduced the first 6 of The 10 Essential Elements of the Real New Testament Message. When the Father sent His Son to be the Savior of the world, He also required people to respond to His gracious gesture to save by means of Jesus’ death and resurrection by repenting toward God, whatever we shall learn that means; and also, as the other side of the same coin, one other matter, which I have labeled as the 7th Essential Element.
The 7th Essential Element of the Real New Testament Message is that people, besides repenting toward God, also believe upon the Lord Jesus Christ, or, as another way of saying it, believe the Gospel. The matter of saving faith is a critically important issue, and it must be plainly defined, and clearly understood.
If this is a true essential to the message, then we should have no trouble finding it everywhere, and learning precisely what is meant by the terms believe and faith, as they have to do with the eternal salvation of one’s soul.
Are we on track? Is this correct? Let’s read through the entire New Testament and see! If God has said it, then we should be able to readily discern that. We have stated 7 essentials already. I believe it is safe to contend that there are yet 3 more. We were lost and condemned sinners. God did all that needed to be done to save us by means of His Son, Jesus Christ. We are to respond to this Good News with repentance and faith. If we do, what should happen next? I think we can see that God next responds to the penitent sinner, who calls upon the name of the Lord Jesus in faith, desiring His salvation for themselves, and that this constitutes the 8th Essential Element of the Real New Testament Message. Do you know what this is? It’s what the Book is all about?
