Let’s read Luke chapters 8 thru 10, and try to discern The 10 Essential Elements of The Real New Testament Message. We begin with the parable of the sower, what is it about, but #7, believing v.12, so that one might #8, be saved or Born Again v.12, and enter into #10, the Kingdom, says verses 1 and 10. Verse 15 speaks of a #9, New Life teaching of persevering in the faith. We have a further #9, New Life teaching concerning discernment in verse 18. All the rest of the chapter is then given by Luke to engendering #7, Faith on the part of his readers in Jesus, as verses 25, 37, 48 and 50 make clear. Verse 37 teaches that the opposite of #7, faith, is not always unbelief, but, as can be seen in many instances, can be fear!
From chapter 9, Jesus sends out His disciples to proclaim #10, the Kingdom in verse 2. He then did the same Himself in verse 11. With verse 20, we have a definitive statement that Jesus is the Messiah, the #4, Savior, by Peter, which is owned by Christ. He speaks of the two elements of #5, the Gospel for the first time; how that He must die for our sins and rise from the dead. Then, with verses 23 thru 26, we have a #9, New Life teaching concerning sacrificially following Him. Verse 35 amounts to a proclamation by God, the Father, that Jesus is the Messiah, His Son, and our #4, Savior! The #5, Gospel is intimated in verse 44. And, we find an important #9, New Life teaching concerning humility in verses 46 thru 48. The chapter closes with the importance of entering into, and serving, in #10, the Kingdom, in verses 60 and 62.
With chapter 10, Jesus sends out 72 more to proclaim #10, the Kingdom in verse 9, and warns that those who #2, sin in verse 10, and do not receive them will receive #3 a harsh judgment, says verse 12. His message requires that hearers #6, repent, as in verse 13, or #3, judgment will befall them. Verse 16 describes how that ignoring Jesus and His message is a #2, sin. With verses 20 and 25, we can get this idea that heaven and eternal life can be equated with #10, the Kingdom. We find excellent #9, New Life teaching concerning love with verse 27, and right on thru verse 37. We see there that love can be expressed from out of feelings of pity, verse 33, and mercy, verse 37, for another. Luke is rich and full. Let’s see it to its end… it’s what the Book is all about!
