Ending with John chapters 20 and 21, we read of what is to be the very most important matter in all Christianity: The resurrection of Jesus Christ. Chapter 20 revolves all around the 2nd element of #5, the Gospel, that being Christ’s resurrection from the dead, stating it first in verse 9, and then giving 3 accounts of it; first to Mary Magdalene, then to His disciples in the upper room on the first day, and finally unto them again, with “Doubting” Thomas among them , one week later. These would be verses 10 thru 18, then 19 thru 23, and finally verses 24-29. Our response ought to be as Thomas’ was in verse 28; that of #7, believing upon Jesus as our Lord and God, and #4, Savior! Is He yours?
With verse 21, we have a #9, New Life teaching to become fervent witnesses for Jesus, that others might learn how that their #2, sins might be forgiven, says verse 23. Verses 30 and 31 is the great “Purpose Passage” of John. It is the Key to his Gospel account. John tells of 9 specific miracles Jesus performed, all of which are written and tell of some coming to #7, believe in Jesus as the Messiah, Christ, Son of God and their #4, Savior; so that those believing might have eternal life thru the #8, New Birth in His name! Have you believed upon Jesus Christ and experienced the New Birth?
Ending with chapter 21, we have Jesus’ 3rd recorded resurrection appearance to His disciples. Peter nearly wiped out the Apostolic crew by inviting 6 others to go back to fishing with him. Jesus would have none of that, and they caught nothing all night, but He filled their nets that next morning, to show that He was their Lord, and to make the point, that they were all to become His ‘fishers of men’! Within the final passage of verses 15 thru 25, we can find Jesus’ #9, New Life teaching unto Peter, but makes perfect application for us all who have #7, believed on Him. From verses 19 and 22, we are to realize that we should ‘follow Him.’ Yes, we must follow Him! It’s what the Book is all about!
Has John also taught 10 Essential Elements to The Real New Testament Message of 1.) righteousness, 2.) sin, 3.) judgment, 4.) Savior, 5.) Gospel, 6.) repentance, 7.) believe, 8.) New Birth, 9.) New Life and 10.) Kingdom? I believe that all 4 Gospel writers have.
