It’s about AD 51 now. Each chapter of I Thessalonians ends with a mention of Christ’s Return; 1:10, 2:19, 3:13, 4:17 and 5:23. The details of Eschatology, or ‘Study of Last Things,’ pertains to Christ’s setting up of #10, the Kingdom, so let’s see how the rest might show up in these 2 epistles. With chapter 1, Paul commends the Thessalonians for their #9, New Life in Christ in verse 3 as being characterized by work, labor and endurance all born of faith, love and hope. He goes right into mention of #5, his Gospel with verse 5 and how it possessed power by the Spirit to produce deep conviction, as Jesus spoke of in John 16:8-11, which concerned #1, righteousness, #2, sin and #3, judgment. The Spirit wrought the #8, New Birth in them, as evidence by #9, New Life characteristics of imitating mature believers in verse 6, and with joy, as well as going on to share #5, the Gospel themselves with others. This was because, as verse 7 says, they #7, believed when they welcomed the message, and their #7, faith became known everywhere! At the end of the chapter, Paul speaks of how others report that they had #6, repented toward God, and were now serving God and waiting for Christ to return, both of which are #9, New Life characteristics. Verse 10 goes to the 2 elements of #5, the Gospel, of how that Christ died for their sins and rose from the dead, making Him the #4, Savior ‘who rescues us from the coming wrath,’ of certain and severe #3, judgment! I find 9 of the 10 Elements already!
Then, in chapter 2, Paul speaks of having brought #5, the Gospel to them in verses 2, 4, 8, 9 and twice in 13. This resulted in the #2, sin of considerable opposition says verses 2, and 14 thru 16. But, some #7, believed Paul’s message we learn from verses 10 and 13. By so doing, they experienced #8, the New Birth when they got saved, v.16. We see #9 New Life matters as to how converted believers are to live all throughout verses 4 thru 14. Don’t miss the very important issue of #1, righteousness as we find it with verses 10 and 12. Those who reject the message of the #5, Gospel and are not #8, Born Again will undergo the #3, severe judgment of God’s wrath upon them, v.16. But all who received, accepted and #7, believed the #5, word of God will enter into #10, God’s Kingdom and glory, as verses 12, and 19+20 declare! Some 8 of the 10 Essential Elements are here.
All of Chapter 3 is #9, New Life examples! He speaks of #5, the Gospel of #4, the Savior, Christ, in verse 2; and mentions their #7, faith in Him in, v. 2 and 7. But see how that #1, righteousness is so important; as he speaks once again of Christ’s Return and our entrance into #10, God’s Kingdom with verse 13! We’ve found all 10 Essential Elements of The Real New Testament Message already! It’s what the Book is all about!
