Reading II Corinthians chapters 4 thru 6, we find much #9, New Life teaching for those who are believers on Jesus Christ. From chapter 4, we find such #9, New Life instructions in verses 2, 7, 16 and 18. In contrast, is that matter of some who #2, sin, but they are those who are perishing and will be #3, judged says verse 3. Their only hope of deliverance is to be found in #5, the Gospel seen in verses 3 and 4. By it, we have experienced #8, the New Birth with the words that God has ‘made His light shine in our hearts…,’ in verse 6. And, this all has to do with #6, believing says verse 13 the very specific #5, Gospel matter of the raising of the Lord Jesus from the dead found in verse 14. This will result in our being raised too, which is our entrance into #10, His Kingdom, where we will experience ‘an eternal glory’ says verse 17.
Chapter 5 is rich! Paul opens on the note of our resurrection, specifically how that we’ve a new body, an eternal dwelling, awaiting us in heaven in verses 1 thru 5a. This is a #10, Kingdom promise. And, verse 5 speaks to our #8, New Birth as when we received His Spirit as our guarantee this will happen! This brings a #9, New Life principle of ‘living by faith’ until that happens in verses 6 thru 9. We are also told of believer’s judgment for rewards, also a #10 Kingdom matter in verse 10. This results in further #9, New Life instruction with verse 11 of seeking to bring others in with #5, the Gospel in both of its elements of Christ dying for our sins and rising from the dead as seen in verses 14 and 15. A #9, New Life key is in verse 15 of living for Him, and no longer for ourselves. Verse 17 is a principal #8, New Birth declaration that upon conversion, one becomes a ‘new creation’! We learn what God was up to with #5, the Gospel, in that He was reconciling the world, concerning our #2, sins against Him, so that we see how that Christ was #4, the sinless Savior, so that ‘in Him we might become #1, the righteousness of God.’ All that is in verses 18 thru 21. Have you ever become a new creation?
Chapter 6 continues, making a plea in verses 1 and 2 that they enter into #8, the New Birth of salvation. With verses 3 thru 13, Paul shows a #9, New Life matter as to how he served the Lord, with mention of purity and #1, righteousness in verses 6 and 7. An important #9, New Life teaching concerning separation unto holiness and #1, righteousness is what verses 14 thru chapter 7, verse 1 is clearly all about. Today, this would mean separation from modern-day ‘Pop Culture.’ As believers and new creations in Christ Jesus, we have been saved to live a truly new and different life as a ‘new creation’ in Christ to be characterized by holiness. It’s what the Book is all about!
