Jesus’ Blood Once for All!

With Hebrews chapters 8 thru 10, The 10 Essential Elements of The Real New Testament Message become only clearer and dearer to the true believer. We are still dwelling on Jesus’ role as High Priest, better than all the Levitical Priesthood, and with 8:6 thru 13, again, of a better covenant, as well; a New Covenant that replaces the old! Like so much of chapter 7, the first 6 verses is about #4, our Savior. It speaks to His present role in #10, the Kingdom now in heaven. This is entirely about how that God wants to forgive and forget a person’s #2, sins thru the #8, New Birth says verse 12, which is what the New Covenant is all about! And how is this to be beneficial to any person? Verse 9 tells us that it is available to them by #7, faith! Under the Old Covenant, Israel did not remain faithful, and God had to turn away from them. But, under the New, because of the impartation of the Holy Spirit to the new believer in Christ, He remains faithful and He keeps us! The evidence will be seen in our own changed lives!!!

Chapter 9 captures everything that God is about for us! Because the problem of man is #2, sin, there is much mention of blood; a very large part of #5, the Gospel. Mention of #2, sin begins with verse 7, is implied throughout, and finds mention also in verses 15, 26 and 28. Blood’s role in #5, the Gospel is the point of verses 12, 14 and 15, 22, 26 and 28. It is the shedding of His own Blood that makes Jesus to be our great High Priest and #4, Savior, as verses 11, 14 and 15, 26 and 28 make clear. He did so that man might be declared #1, righteous according to verses 13 and 14. Otherwise men face the prospect of #3, severe judgment says verses 14 and 27. Our salvation frees us to live a #9, New Life in service to God according to verse 14. And, this matter of being ‘set free’ is the very expression used to describe our #8, New Birth of salvation in verses 15 and 22. We also find mention of the #10, Kingdom in heaven with verses 11, 15, 23 thru 25, and then His Coming in verse 28.

If 9 was great, chapter 10 is even greater! See the stark contrast made between #1, righteousness and #2, sin in verses 1 thru 29. Righteousness is seen in verses 1, 2, 10, 14, 22 and 29. It’s opposite, #2, sin finds mention with verses 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 11, 12, 17 and 18, 26 and 29. The very real threat of #3, severe judgment is strong here in verses 27 thru 31, and  39. Our #8, New Birth is found in forgiveness in verses 17 and 18, and also verse 39. All this is ours only thru #4, the Savior seen in verses 5 thru 14, and 19 and 20. How did He save, but by His Blood being shed in the #5, Gospel as verses 10, 12, 14, and 19 state. Its benefit is all ours by #7, faith in Christ and the Gospel just as verses 22 and 23, 35, 38 and 39 declare. We have #9, New Life instruction with verses 24 and 25, 32 and 36. In the end will be great glory in #10, the Kingdom found in verses 13, 25, 34, 36 and 37. Reread chapters 7 thru 10 and find all the mentions of ‘blood,’ ‘priest,’ and ‘once for all’. Get Hebrews 7 thru 10 and you’ll get the entire New Testament! It’s what the Book is all about!
