With Hebrews 11 thru 13, we come to its conclusion. And, what do we conclude from Hebrews? With chapter 11, after all that has been said about Jesus, our great high priest, His one sacrifice, and the new covenant He mediates; we see that its efficacy, the benefit it possesses for us, is all accessible to each individual solely by faith. We find #7, faith from verse 1 thru 39 some 30 times! Saving faith begets to us the necessary #1, righteousness, whereby we are acceptable to and accepted by God as per verses 4, 7 and 40. This perfect salvation purchased for us by our priest, Jesus Christ, was from the penalty of our #2, sins as we find mention of in verses 25 and 31. And the full benefit of our salvation will be ultimately realized in the #10 Eternal Kingdom found in verses 10, 16, 26 and 40. A favorite verse among saints thru the ages has been 6. God rewards those believers who earnestly seek Him in prayer! Do you?
Chapter 12 brings us to the practical #9, New Life application of all that preceded it. From beginning to end, we find instruction as to how a believer is to live! The New Life revolves around practical #1, righteousness as seen in verses 10 and 11, and 23; with a special emphasis given to its necessity in verse 14! There’s mention of #2, sin with verses 1, 3 and 4, and 15 and 16. There’s even one mention of #6, repentance in verse 17. Chapter 11 was all about #7, faith, but in 12 we find just one mention of it in verse 2. The point being that faith secures our salvation, and the New Life must follow. That life will be largely characterized by God administering much discipline upon each of us, as verses 4 thru 11 amply attest. In the end, though, we find the very best passages to tell us of what our eternal home in #10, the Kingdom will be like with verses 22 thru 24 and 28! Let us fix our eyes upon Jesus!
Hebrews concludes with chapter 13, and nearly all The 10 Essential Elements of The Real New Testament Message are here in 13. As with 12, it contains much #9, New Life instructions for believers throughout. There is mention of #2, sin as seen in verses 4, 9 and 11. There’s mention of practical #1, righteousness with verses 16 and 17, and 21. But, there is special mention of spiritual righteousness in verse 12. This righteousness saves as it comes from #4, the Savior seen in verses 12 and 20; through His saving work of #5, the Gospel by His death, shed Blood and resurrection seen with verses 12 and 20. By these, Jesus has saved us from #3, judgment expressed in verse 4. It all became ours only when we simply #7, believed as those in verse 7. In the very end, when it is all said and done, we will partake, along with Him, in #10,the Holy City, Heavenly Jerusalem seen in verse 14 and closing with glory in verse 21. Jesus, our High Priest, is greater than all! He alone saves! It’s what the Book is all about!
