All Downhill for Israel from Here!

Read 76.) Judges 2:10 thru 3:31. It’s incredibly important to fully realize just where we are in the larger scheme of things from here. Without such an understanding, anyone could keep on reading, and would likely continually ask… What? and, Why? Briefly, God has a personal goal and purpose in all this. It is seen in the end; the very last 2 chapters of the Bible, in the book of Revelation. It’s the Holy City, New Jerusalem. It’s His Kingdom! There are 2 people and 2 ends. Those whose names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life, and those who are not. Those in the Book enter God’s Kingdom to live with Him forever. Those whose names are not there will be cast into the lake of fire! This is: Know the end from the beginning. In order for anyone to get their name into the Book of Life, God sent Messiah. That’s what this entire story is about. God gave 7 Promises and Prophecies. The story is all about how God caused them all to be fulfilled, each, successively in order. And, by means of these, He proves He exists and is very real, and that the record; the Holy Bible, is His Word! This is: Knowing the Bible from the top down. When you know the bare-bones of the Bible outline, and then read through it in a chronological fashion, it jumps right out at you, and you GET IT! Get it? We’ve seen God give Abraham many descendants, as He promised. We saw Israel go into captivity in Egypt, but God brought them out, as He promised. We have just now seen that God has brought Israel into, and given them, The Promised Land, as He promised. Now, beginning right here, with Judges 2:10, we enter the fourth of the Promises and Prophecies. Unfortunately, this is where Israel becomes unfaithful to the Lord, their God, and breaks their covenant with Him. There will be 3 more Promises and Prophecies to be fulfilled to complete the entire story, but this is where we are now, and understanding this one point, explains all that will follow in our reading, for a long time. Israel becomes unfaithful to the Lord, and it will lead to the fulfillment of the 5th Prophecy, their destruction. Israel’s unfaithfulness will take us through 3 Bible Phases or Stages. This is the 1st, and is called the Judges Stage. Just stay tuned for the other two.

One last point needs to be made right here. This particular Prophecy of Israel’s unfaithfulness to God lasts for some 750 years, and is an astounding testament to the mercy and the grace of God. He withheld His judgment all that time in the hope of Israel’s return unto Him in deep contrition, humility and repentance; until His patience with them finally ran out. You must realize this, or you have yet to know what God is really like… slow to anger, and abounding in lovingkindness. Judges 2:10 thru 3:6, practically summarizes the whole story of this Prophecy all by itself! Get this, and all the next 125 days of reading will make far greater sense! Hope this helps. Chapter 3 then recounts the stories of Israel’s first 3 judges, Othniel, Ehud and Shamgar. It’s what the Book is all about!
